nature of their job and those adults to whom youths naturally turn for
help and guidance. FMI and to register: http://www.mcdregistration.org/registrations.asp

Thanks to all who supported your
local farmers through the winter. The
root cellars are about empty of winter produce,
but the Cumberland Farmers Market Association
is already making plans for the Summer market. If you are
interested in becoming a vendor, please contact our Market Manager,
Leslie Fitzgerald at market.galME@gmail.com before March
24th, when we meet and vote in new members.
Opening Day for the summer
market is Saturday, May 21st and hours are 9 AM - 12 noon. We
are moving the market back to the lot at Cumberland Town
Hall. To those who have asked why we cannot return to the
high school location on Main Street: while there is ample parking,
the renovations eliminated an exit, and it is not safe to have cars
driving through the market.
The Town Hall location provides
plenty of parking, enough space for 15-20 vendors, and excellent
visibility. At the request of many, we will once again have
piglets, chicks, ducklings, goats, alpacas, etc. for your enjoyment,
but for our farm animals' safety, customers must leave their dogs
at home, in cars, or at least well away from the livestock and
poultry.
We look forward to seeing you at the
Saturday market, or at one of our other locations during weekday
afternoons: Wednesdays in Falmouth, Thursdays in Gray, and Fridays in
Freeport. Special requests or suggestions to improve our market
may be directed to Pam Harwood, CFMA president, at pdh@longwoodsalpacas.com
or to Leslie Fitzgerald (email above).
