Walk In Wireless
Wireless Laptop and Wireless Card Policy
Prince Memorial Library has a Maine State Library Walk-In-Wireless access point, a Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop computer, and three (3) Linksys Wireless-G notebook adapters available for use by patrons. The laptop and notebook adapters are only available for use within the building.
Patrons wanting to use their own wireless-ready laptops to access the wireless network may do so at their convenience.
Patrons with their own laptops who need a notebook adapter to access the wireless network may borrow one of the three available adapters at the circulation desk. Registered borrowers needing a notebook adapter must check one out; individuals who are not registered borrowers must leave a driver’s license or other form of identification while using the notebook adapter.
Older laptops may need to be loaded with the notebook adapter software. Individuals needing assistance loading the notebook adapter software on their laptops will be given the software instructions provided with the adapter and basic guidance. Individuals loading the notebook adapter software on their laptops take full responsibility for any and all changes the notebook adapter software causes on their laptops. The library cannot guarantee that all laptops will work with the Maine State Library Walk-In-Wireless access point, Wireless-G notebook adapters, and/or notebook adapter software.
Patrons wishing to use the library’s Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop computer must leave a current driver’s license or other form of identification in order to borrow the laptop.
