Borrowing Policies

The loan period for books, magazines and audiobooks is two weeks. Books and audiobooks may be renewed for another two weeks, unless the title is on a reserve list. Materials may be renewed by telephone. Adult materials that are overdue accumulate $.10 in fines per day; juvenile materials accumulate $.05 in fines for each day they are overdue. Videos are loaned for seven days, and cannot be renewed. A late fine of $.10 per day will be charged for all overdue videos. All library materials can be returned to the Library after hours, using the drop boxes located on either side of the front door. There is one drop for printed materials, and a second drop for videos and audiobooks.

If Prince Memorial Library does not own a specific title or material on a subject, patrons may ask that staff obtain the material through the Inter-Library Loan program. Other libraries, in Maine and throughout the country, will be checked to see if the material can be borrowed. Videos, audiobooks and new books cannot be borrowed through this program.

Library services are free to all residents of Cumberland and North Yarmouth, Maine. If you live outside of our service area, but would like to join the library you can do so for an annual fee of $30.00Library 001
