PERMITS: The owner or agent must complete and submit an application for a building permit to the Building Inspector.
- If plumbing is required, you must obtain appropriate permits from the Licensed Plumbing Inspector. A separate electrical permit must be obtained by a licensed electrician or by the owner if work is done by the owner.
- Applications for building permits are available at the Building Inspector’s office.
- For building permits, a full set of construction plans showing elevations, section drawings, and/or floor plans may be required. A site plan must be submitted. All construction must meet the 2009 International Residential Code and the 2009 International Building Code as required by MUBEC.
- A Site Plan Review by the Planning Board or Planning Staff may be required prior to the issuance of a building permit.
- A Special Exception may be required by the Board of Adjustment and Appeals, prior to the issuance of a Building Permit.
- A Shoreland Zoning Permit is required if construction takes place within the shoreland area; which is within 250′ of a river, lake, stream, or wetland associated with a water body.
